| Bob Minto grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from high school in 1964. He graduated from Findlay College with BA in 1969 with a comprehensive art major with emphasis in pottery and drawing. Bob has graduate hours from BGSU in pottery and photography with a MS from University of Dayton, majoring in Secondary Administration.
Bob was Ada High School art instructor from 1969 through 1995 and high school principal from 1995 through 2000. He was an instructor Lima Technical College (Rhodes State College) 1977 through 1990. Bob is currently a adjunct instructor at The University of Findlay and a Student Teacher Supervisor since 2000.
Over the years Bob has been influenced by many American and Japanese potters through books and trade journals, by potter friends and their work. Those with whom Bob has worked and studied include Doyle Long, functional potter, Ed Corle, professor of art at The University Of Findlay, Bruce Cesser, professor of art Ohio Northern University, Greg Luginbihl, professor of art Bluffton University, Tom Turner, potter, Mars, North Carolina, and Gail Russell, functional potter, Peachblow Pottery, Delaware, Ohio.
Bob is driven to produce functional pottery that is safe to use and yet is distinct in design. He tries to offer pottery that people can use yet appreciate as contemporary works of art at the same time. Every piece is handmade or wheel thrown with individual touches that make each one unique.
